Technowrap repair to 24 inch ammonia line

Refinery in South Africa experienced excessive internal erosion. Pin hole leaks had formed expelling ammonia into the atmosphere. Technowrap was asked to provide a solution.

 

Challenges: Design calculations were prepared by Professor Simon Frost and the repair had to be undertaken by qualified Technowrap Technicians.The required design life was 4 years.

 

Solution: The line was isolated whilst the repair was implemented.The preparation was to Sa 2.5 provided by the client.Technowrap sealing compound was used to close up the holes,and afterward the technowrap 2k HA was applied.

 

 

 

Technowrap repair to 36 inch Caustic Drum,Alkylation Plant

Refinery in South Africa,  36 inch Caustic and Mereox drum experienced excessive internal erosion. Requirement was to reintroduce integrity to the Drum enabling operations to continue safely until next shutdown.Pressure at 7 bar and temperature at around 50 deg c.

Challenges: The main problem was that the unit had many complicated geometries,also the base had to be built up with cement to create a workable profile.

 

Solution: Calculations were done according to the information provided.The preparation was arranged and  by the client to the required SA 2.5.The repair was successfully carried out over a 3 day period.

 

 

 

Technowrap repair to LEAKING UNDERGROUND PIPE COUPLING

Two 20 inch pipe couplings continually had leaking problems,creating underground seepage in the nearby town. The medium in the pipes was salt water being pumped to the desalination plant. The main cause of leaking was due to water hammer stressing the couplings causing eventual failure.

 

Challenges: The cage of the coupling had to be covered.4 mm plate was wrapped around the cage and secured with straps. A taper was formed from the top of the cage to the actual pipe with a fast acting cement.

 

Solution: Calculations were done according to the information provided. The preparation was arranged and  by the client to the required SA 2.5.The repairs were successfully carried out over a 2 day period.

    Through research and development, Technowrap 2K™ has been developed to enable it to be applied in temperatures ranging from -103°F (-75°C) to 428°F (220°C). As a result this technology can be utilised in a variety of geometries and to suit the temperatures of all geographic locations.

     

    Technowrap 2K™ is available in 3 resin types:

    Low Temperature (L.T.™) - Used in temperate climates with an operating range from -75°C to 90°C / -103°F to 194°F. High Temperature (H.T.™) - Used for high temperature applications ranging from 90°C to 220°C / 194°F to 428°F. The ability of this product to reach such high temperatures was an industry first in a niche market. High Ambient (H.A.™) - Used in tropical environments e.g. MiddleEast and West Africa with an operating range from -75°C to 90°C /-103°F to 194°F./

  • SPLASHZONE

    Technowrap Splashzone™ has been designed for application of repairs on wet or submerged surfaces. Applications include caissons and risers suffering corrosion in the splashzone area or sub-sea pipelines. The ability to bend to wet substrates is due to our specially formulated epoxy-based resin. Technowrap Splashzone™ is designed for the repair of internal, external and through wall defects. Technowrap Splashzone™ can be used for pressures up to 250 barg/ 3625 psi and temperatures up to 60°C.

     

    Technowrap Splashzone™ is validated to ISO/TS 24817 and ASME PCC-2-2006 and all repair comes with a lifetime guarantee of up to twenty years. Technowrap Splash™ can be applied on risers, caissons, pipework and pipelines.

     

    Repairs are applied by certified Technowrap™ Installers who are competent and experienced in the application and installation of Technowrap™ products, within Rhokana Engineering™.

    Technowrap PRS™ (pipeline repair system) is a composite repair system specifically for straight pipe sections. It was developed in response to demands from clients who required a product that provided a cost-effective method of returning externally corroded pipelines to their original pressure retention capability and structural design integrity.

     

    A glass fibre cloth; Technowrap PRS™ is cloth applied with an epoxy based resin. The cloth is uni-directional, enabling greater pressure retention capability (maximum 2000 psi/140 bar g) in the repair of straight pipe sections and bends. The system is cost-effective in comparison to other repair options when applied to long pipe work geometries.

  • TECHNOWRAP H.P PRS

    Fibre: Carbon, uni-directional woven cloth 0º

    Application: For strengthening of high pressure pipelines (straights and bends) Designed for use on land

    Defect types: Internal or external up to 80% of the original wall thickness

    Maximum design pressure: Up to 250 bar

    Maximum design temperature: Up to 220ºC

    Approx cure time: Max. 24 hours

    Chemical resistance: 3 < pH < 10

    Technowrap H.P. PRS™ is a high pressure pipeline repair system which has been designed for use on land. The system's intended application is for large diameters of pipe work, such as a 36 inch pipe operating at high pressures (greater than 50 bar). The uni-directional carbon based cloth is encased in our epoxy resin system.

     

    Technowrap H.P. PRS™ is validated to ISO/TS 24817 and ASME PCC-2-2006 and all repairs come with a lifetime guarantee of up to twenty years. Technowrap H.P. PRS™ can be applied on straight and slight bend pipe sections.

     

    Repairs are applied by certified Technowrap™ Installers who are competent and experienced in the application and installation of Technowrap™ products, within Rhokana Engineering™.

  • TECHNOWRAP POTABLE

    Technowrap Potable™ is a engineered, glass-based repair system specifically designed and certified for potable water applications and can be used on all pipe work components. It consists of a glass fibre reinforcement encased in an epoxy resin which has been specifically formulated for use in drinking water applications. The repair system has been successfully tested to BS 6920, confirming its suitability for potable water applications.

     

    Technowrap Potable™ is qualified to BS 6920 and all repairs come with a lifetime guarantee of up to twenty years. Technowrap Potable™ can be applied on pipelines, tanks and vessels and all pipe work geometries including bends, tees, reducers and flanges. Rhokana Engineering can design Technowrap Potable™ repairs for internal, external and through wall defects. The maximum temperature for installation of this repair system is 60ºC.

     

    Repairs are applied by certified Technowrap™ Installers who are competent and experienced in the application and installation of Technowrap™ products, within Rhokana Engineering.
